History

We are a well established business in the town of Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire.

We Are .........

 Grimsby Model Centre(M.O.J.Bradley T/as),

We are at.......

 22 Lord Street, Grimsby. DN31 2LU

We specialise in Models and modelling of  all styles, Radio Controled Aircraft, Helicopters, Cars, etc. We also stock Plastic Kits and some Boating and general modelling items

Being an area famous for Food production and in particular Fishing, the town also owes much of its present properity to its history of Flying. As part of Lincolnshire, which is also described as “Bomber County”, a reference to the WW2 involvement with the RAF and the Lancaster Bomber, to say nothing of the many famous (now sadly, disused) airfields. To the south of Grimsby currently (2008) also hosts the famous Red Arrows RAF display team, The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and the wonderful privately owned Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby museum, which is well worth a visit.

The business was started in Cartergate shortly after WW2 by Walter and Eleanor Boswell as a mainly crafts supplier, but the Lampshades, fabrics, and other crafts gave space to models gradually over the years.

The Present Owner started as a schoolboy Saturday Helper and eventually bought the business from Mrs Boswell in 1980.

A major move in 1992 was the move to the current Lord Street premises, and the later years have seen a total commitment to all types of models, but particularly Radio Controlled. We have an extensive knowledge of Free Flight and Control Line also.

The current staff are ALL experienced modellers, and include British Model Flying Association registered Instructors and Area Chief  Examiners. We also actively support the Model Aviators Association with their Modellers Holidays, in Yorkshire (May) and Devon (September) annually

The Proprietor and staff are also deeply committed to the Model Aviators Association and currently are members of the committee and Holiday organisers. Through this we have also become supporters and members of RCMF, which keeps us in touch with other modellers nationwide

We are active Modellers. Operating all types Fixed wing aircraft (Powered, Glider, and Electric,) Helicopters, and I.C. and Electric Cars.

The shop inevitably concentrates its efforts on the above and can offer sound and friendly advice to beginner and experienced modellers alike, together with friendly banter and a jovial atmosphere. We will do work on Customers Models but prefer to advise and Instruct so that the user can get more out of the activities in which he is interested. This also releases more time to assist more people. Weekends see us Instructing the art of Model flying within local groups. See our Links for Local organisations.

Our Customers are our strength, and we have several who we can call on for expertise is specific areas including Spray brushing and Plastic Contruction.
